Come on Summer

Oh so ready for summer am I! The deck is decked out with flowers and the patio furniture is in place. Now all we need is the happy sun!
It was so nice to get a visit from an old friend. If you have one go see her. It fed me to see her doing so well. We don't live near one another anymore, but I know we will always be close in the heart.

Oh, Happy Holidays

And so starts another wind-up. Thanksgiving...where we all make a meal that no one in her right mind would eat. And then we try to eat it! Who will make what, who will eat what. Where will it be? I think these things should be church/community funtions. They were never intended for each family to try and tackle. And I think the menu should be
evolving
What's wrong with turkey sandwiches if it means that everyone can enjoy the day?

Practically Perfect World

YUCKY EMAIL
So I googled yucky email and got a ton of hits. All about how I could wash my email with different products. If we all know it's yucky and we don't want it, why does it exsist? Who is making it worthwhile for these yucky people?
So why don't we claim the internet for good? Stand with me to say NO to yuck! Everytime you get something you don't want send it to your internet company. Make them take responsibility!

Times are a'changing

In this last week I have an opportunity to see my beloved niece and nephew as adults and my beloved mother as the one needed the TLC.
Mom is grateful for something I am delighted to have to give...a little care and an afternoon of nursing. The debt of love I owe my mother couldn't be paid back in a million such afternoons. Always the encourager and supporter, always the wise and always the graceful...She ROCKS!
Nephew is another story...A story of the mix of cool and funny that make me proud that he comes from our blood! He grew up to be someone I enjoy spending time with.....God is doing an amazing job with that boy!
Niece is precious and perfect. I got to enjoy her hospitality in her new home, and I saw the all grown up woman who is a blessing to everyone who knows her.
My beloved sister did a miracle.....She made these two perfect people. All the people who will be blessed by knowing these kids have to thank the parents who grew them so carefully.
This new world is different, but I am looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

Here's to Aunt Dorothy

Life is a long process and only when we get to the other side will we all understand how God was at work on shaping us into the people who would be of the most use to Him.
All the family who loved us and molded us with thier behavior.
From Aunt Dorothy I learned the hole that can't be filled when one sister withdraws from the other. I have seen my mother use the opportunity she had to teach us that we have a responsibility to witness especially to those we are connected to by the bonds of love and blood.
I have also pondered what it is that my my niece and nephew think when they see me love thier mom in a way that no one else on the planet can. And how I might have shaped them by sharring an adventure or two. Or a joke.
I would have liked to know Aunt Dorothy as one adult to another. What was her favorite book? How cool would that be if she loved Wodehouse or Benson, or thought Clarice Cliff was inspired.
I doubt Amy and Josh know these things about me. I guess I better hang around a while.

Amy's Favorite Cookies

I encourage everyone to make these for Amy!
1Cup marg.
1C brown sugar
1C sugar
Cream together, and then add
2 eggs
1 tes. vanilla
Next add;
2 C flour
1 tes. salt
1 ts, baking powder
1 ts. baking soda
Now the secret part...add
3 Cups Oats
1 Cup coconut
1 Cup nuts
2 Cups cocolate chips.
Drop by spoonfuls on baking sheet and cook 12 min. at 350. Give to Amy!

3 goods and a bad

Now to think up 3 goods because today everything seeems like a bad!

1 Hurray for Tracey...having the courage to go after something you want...and working hard at it!
2 Grace...so that you can look at the future and not be afraid.
3 Quilting, because everything seems better when you can play with fabric!

One bad....having people come into a ministry you love you are not ministry minded. Immature people. People who have the nerve NOT to value me! It's all about me....we must make God tired sometimes. Thank you Lord for loving me enough to keep working on the all the rough spots.

Christmas 2005, Thank God it's over!

Most predictable uncomfortable moment:
When People pretend that they speak fluent Spanish in the Mexican resturant and are busted by the waiter INSTANLY.
Do they think WE will be fooled....we have known them since thier very 'white bread' youth. Yeash!
Best fake thank you for a gift:
"If I needed this, I would have enjoyed getting it"
Thing I WILL NEVER EAT:
Mother-in-law's neighbor makes candy for Bobby and his wife. The woman is at least 100 and lives with a multitude of small animals.
Moment I always cry:
When I sing Christmas carols with 1000 other people and remember what Christmas is about.
Biggest lie I told:
I would like to have you move here.
